Things I've made

Small tools, same rules.

I write about work that treats people well. I also build apps, and I hold them to the standards I'd hold a manager to.

A good manager asks before acting on your behalf, lets you own your work, and protects your time. Most software does none of that. It deletes things for you, keeps your files on its servers, and charges you every month for the privilege. So these follow three rules.

Nothing happens without your say-so.

Swiping a photo in Keepers only marks it, and nothing is deleted until you review the batch. MyWorkspaces never fills in what you're about to do for you. Spare keeps a photo on your iPhone until its backups are confirmed.

Your stuff stays yours.

Spare sends photos straight to your own cloud accounts, with no Spare server in between. NoteBoard keeps notes in files you can open with anything. Keepers never sends a photo off your iPhone.

No subscriptions, and no accounts with me.

None of them asks you to sign up for anything, or to keep paying.

For work

Before you use your computer, say what you're about to do and for how long. It keeps every other app out of the way until you're done. Not out yet.

For everything else

Keepers · iPhone

Swipe through your camera roll: right to keep, left to delete, up when you're not sure. Nothing goes until you've reviewed it. Keepers help →

Spare · iPhone
