Your workspace
NoteBoard stores tasks, projects and workspace configuration in JSON, and notes and canvases in files. You can use the app's private workspace or open a compatible folder you choose. NoteBoard also stores interface preferences, recent-file references and recovery drafts on your device.
NoteBoard does not operate an account or storage server and does not send your workspace to the developer. If you choose a folder in iCloud Drive or another file provider, that provider may store or synchronize its contents under its own terms and privacy policy. Device backup services may also include app data according to your system settings.
Optional Gmail connection
If you choose to connect Gmail, NoteBoard opens Google's authentication flow and communicates directly with Google's OAuth and Gmail services. You sign in with Google; NoteBoard does not receive your Google password.
With your permission, NoteBoard accesses your account email address and Gmail messages, including subjects, participants, message content, identifiers and labels, to display mail and support your workflow. Actions you choose, such as archiving, filing and sending a reply, transmit the relevant request or reply content to Google and may change your Gmail account. Reading and refreshing mail requires an internet connection.
Account email addresses, access tokens and refresh tokens are stored in Apple's Keychain. These Keychain items are marked as synchronizable and may sync between eligible devices through iCloud Keychain, depending on your Apple account and settings. NoteBoard does not send these credentials to a developer server.
Loaded mail is held in the app while you use it. When you turn a message into a task, save a reply draft or create a summary, the resulting task, draft or note can persist in your workspace. Unsaved reply text can also be retained locally so it can be recovered after closing the composer. Email HTML is displayed with scripts and remote resources blocked. Links you deliberately open are handled by the relevant browser or mail app and are subject to the destination's privacy practices.
Google processes data for its Gmail and authentication services under its own policies. Your Gmail account, messages and sent replies remain in Google's services independently of NoteBoard.
NoteBoard’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide the Gmail features you choose. It is not sold, used for advertising, or used to train or improve generalized AI models.
Optional on-device AI
When available and requested by you, NoteBoard uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework to suggest titles, summarize a selected source or suggest tasks for Today. The selected text or task metadata is processed on the device. NoteBoard does not send AI prompts to a developer server or a remote AI provider. If you select a Gmail message as the source, the app may first retrieve that message directly from Google.
Generated results are shown for your review. Results that you accept may be saved as task edits, linked notes or Today selections in your workspace.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
NoteBoard includes no advertising network, developer analytics service or tracking SDK. The app does not sell your information or use it for targeted advertising. It does not send automatic crash reports to a developer-run service. Apple's operating-system and App Store services may process diagnostics according to your Apple settings and Apple's policies.
Support
If you email the developer for support, the developer receives your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send, and uses them to respond and investigate your request. Avoid sending account credentials or private workspace content. Support correspondence is retained as needed to address the request and any related obligations; you can contact the developer to ask about access or deletion of that correspondence.
Your choices and deletion
You can use core tasks and notes without connecting Gmail, leave AI features unused, turn Write mode off, or choose a different workspace folder.
Data Store → Gmail → Disconnect removes that account's credential from NoteBoard's native Keychain store and clears its loaded mail from the app. It does not delete your Google account or messages, revoke the Google authorization grant, or erase tasks, notes and reply drafts already saved or retained locally. You can also revoke NoteBoard's access through your Google account's third-party connections settings.
Delete tasks and files you no longer need from the app or your selected workspace. Archiving a note keeps the file; it is not deletion. A Move to Trash action uses the system or file provider's trash behavior, so the file may remain recoverable. Complete removal may require emptying the relevant Trash or Recently Deleted area and removing copies or backups held by your file provider.
Deleting the app does not guarantee removal of synchronizable Keychain items, user-chosen folders, cloud copies or backups. Disconnect Gmail before removing the app if you want to remove its native saved credentials, and manage external files and backups with their provider. NoteBoard does not currently include a single action that erases every local draft, preference and external copy. Contact the developer if you need help identifying app data on your device.
Because no NoteBoard account or workspace server exists, the developer cannot remotely access or delete your device workspace. Requests about support correspondence can be sent to peter@peterdurlacher.com.
