Keepers

Privacy Policy

Effective October 29, 2026

Keepers is an iPhone app for going through your photo library and choosing what to delete. It's made by Peter Durlacher in Vienna, Austria, and built so that your photos and everything about them stay on your iPhone.

The short version: Keepers doesn't collect any data. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and no third-party code. I never receive your photos or anything about them.

What Keepers reads

With your permission, Keepers reads the photos and videos in your library, along with their details: when and where they were taken, their type (for example, screenshot or Live Photo), whether they're favorites, and which albums they're in. If you choose Limited Access, it only sees the photos you selected.

Keepers never asks for your current location. The places it uses come from your photos.

What stays on your iPhone

  • Your photos. Keepers shows them and never uploads them.
  • Photo analysis. Finding blurry shots, near-duplicates and screenshots happens on your iPhone, using Apple's Vision framework.
  • The library index. To remember your decisions (keep, delete, not sure) and keep its lists quick, Keepers keeps a database inside the app with the photo details above and your decisions. Like other app data, it's included in your iPhone's backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) unless you turn that off. Deleting the app deletes it.

What leaves your iPhone

  • Trip names. To name a trip “Lisbon,” Keepers sends Apple Maps one approximate location per trip, rounded to about a kilometer. No photos are sent, and nothing else from your library. Apple handles this request under Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • iCloud Photos. If you use iCloud Photos with Optimize iPhone Storage, iOS downloads full-size photos and videos from iCloud when you look at them. That happens between your iPhone and Apple, and Keepers isn't in the middle of it. You can turn off downloads over cellular in the app's Settings.
  • Crash reports. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may send me anonymous crash reports. They contain technical details about the crash, not your photos.

Deleting photos

Keepers only deletes photos after you review them and approve the deletion, and iOS asks you to confirm as well. Deleted photos go to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, where you can recover them for 30 days.

Children

Keepers doesn't collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
